After riding for 2000 km on dusty trails with my DesertX, I noticed that the stock paper filter let a lot of dirt through. The foam filter seems to seal much better, has anyone else given it a try?

Yeah a lot of DesertX riders switch to foam filters for dusty conditions since they tend to seal better and trap fine particles compared to the stock paper one. They do require more frequent cleaning and oiling, but if youre riding offroad a lot, the extra maintenance is worth it for the better engine protection.

Ducati should've equipped the DesertX with a proper foam filter from the start, stock paper ones are notorious for dust leaks, and riders end up risking engine wear just to save a few bucks

TBH, sticking with the stock paper filter on a DesertX is a rookie move...foam filters trap way more dust, boost performance, and prevent engine wear on long, dirty rides.
