How to improve stock suspension without breaking the bank

After seeing how much better the Ducati rides with TracTive suspension, I wanted to help folks who can't justify that price tag so I borrowed a Ducati from a local dealer and used a leftover stock setup to test upgrades...with revalving, respringing, and some machining, I significantly improved dive, squat, and control especially off-road

This is awesome. Revalving, respringing, and doing a bit of machining really brings stock Ducati suspension to life more than most folks think. It might not be quite as good as TracTive, but it definitely improves off-road handling and eliminates dive. I'm actually considering doing this for my bike as well. What did it cost you? I'm currently in the middle of a suspension build for my XL600R and I'm looking at upgrades for my DX next

Awesome job. Revalving, respringing, and machining can really improve how your suspension feels and lessen dive and squat especialy when you're off-road. It's great you figured out a way to enhance performanc without spending a ton on TracTive. That's a smart and practical upgrade

Nice! Thanks for sharing this. TracTrive has been on my list for quite a while now but I haven't got around to trying it. This motivated me. I love that the other comments here agree with you.

Awesome, glad to hear it motivated you! TracTrive is definitley worth checking out. It's always nice to see a product getting positive feedback from others. Hope you have fun using it

It's great to see this kind of hands-on, practical work! Revalving and respringing can really change a stock setup for the better when done correctly. I love that you tried it out yourself and shared your findings. I'm curious, what springs did you decide to use for the front?

Nice! It's great to see someone putting in the effort to improve stock components, especially for those of us not looking to spend a fortune! Those kinds of tweak can really transform a bike's feel but I guess it's still not common or people are a bit hesitant to experiment.

I've been looking at the tractive but it was out of my budget so I decided to wait untill I can afford it. Like your idea, but I'm curious about how much it costs? Also, did you do eveything yourself?

I'd say the revalve/respring route cost me under a third of TracTive, including machining. It's not magic, but the improvement in control and confidence off-road was massive, it is worth every dollar

I went with custom-rate springs matched to my weight and riding style, not off-the-shelf. Stock was too soft, so stiffer linear-rate fronts gave me far better balance and consistency off-road.

I kept total cost under a third of TracTive's retail price, around $600 for springs, revalve, and machining. Yes, I handled everything myself with basic tools...just time, patience, and careful measuring
